What is the UK law on wages for unsocial hours?

Please note that this is in regards to law of the united kingdom, England to be precise.

In my job I work unsocial hours and as far as I'm aware I'm getting paid the exact same hourly rate as those on social hours. I have been told that the average for companies that pay more for unsocial hours is 16% more then social hours pay.

Do companies by law have to pay more to people working unsocial hours?

There are no laws about this. It's up to the company. Sorry!
