What is the Pennsylvania law regarding breaks at work?

I am looking for the adult law not the minors law. Are the required or not?

Here it is:

What is the Law Regarding Breaks and Meal Periods?

Pennsylvania employers are required to provide break periods of at least 30 minutes for minors ages 14 through 17 who work five or more consecutive hours. Employers are not required to give breaks for employees 18 and over. If your employer allows breaks, and they last less than 20 minutes, you must be paid for the break. If your employer allows meal periods, the employer is not required to pay you for your meal period if you do not work during your meal period and it lasts more than 20 minutes. A collective bargaining agreement may also govern this issue.

Those who mentioned Federal laws have accepted an extremely common myth. No federal laws require breaks of any kind. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20070403190531AAV5CqQ&kid=Tcd8CDC6VTmt7dAqXOYsATV0oCpcZJBiiukVJtFimKod0TaCsmGO&s=comm&date=2007-04-10+16%3A14%3A02&.crumb=

im pretty sure that under federal law it has to be at least offered if you work more than 5 hours

Labor laws are Federal, not state. Look up US Dept. of Labor.

If I recall correctly, they are required to give you a 15 minute break if you work 6 hours, and a 30 minute lunch if you work 8, unless you can eat while you work. Convenience stores, for example, are not required to give any breaks at all if they let you eat while you work.

As a former Pennsylvania resident, I do know that there are vague laws that relate to the "break period" at a full-time or part-time job. If you have been injured due to some factor while you were on the job, then you are entitled to breaks. This was quite important for me, since I lived around the Pittsburg area and was injured on the scene at my job. If you have a goverement position; you can ask for a break (if it is legitamate) at any point within the working day. As for individual companies; most companies have their own specific guidlines for breaks at work. If your compnay/job does not have any sort of this, meet with your supervisor to discuss having breaks during the working day. I most certainly hope this is of some informative help.
