Has there been a law proposed to have farmers markets and backyard produce gardens banned?

I heard from a reliable source that this was a real proposition that they're trying to turn into a law. Is there any such a law being proposed and where can I find information detailing it?

Check out my blog

http://boulderbelt.blogspot.com/2009/03/myth-of-hr-875-and-sb-425.html

This bill (which is a long way from becoming a law) is meant to clean up our contaminated food system-national and international-in order to prevent things like the salmonella peanut scare of 2008 and all the other food recalls too often are announced months after the tainted food has been sold. There is a writer named Lin Cohen-Coles who has written several hysterical op/ed pieces about this. too many bloggers and posters to forums are taking her word that this is a bad bill. her pieces have so many mistakes it is almost funny. Things like bringing NAIS into this issue (that is another bill that is going through committee and will be voted in congress quite soon and will have a negative effect upon small farmers if passed)

quite the contrary -ask your "reliable source" for his source.

No. But there are initiatives and bills being proposed. Google HR 875 for more information.

maybe you should look up in the dictionary what "reliable" means.

then look up "gullible" and "butt of the joke" too

I didn't know that, but I'm glad you asked the question. I'd fight that. Now I'm going to look it up.
